White House Reports on Initial Booster Rollout

COVID response coordinator provides update on booster campaign.

The White House’s COVID–19 Response Coordinator Dr. Ashish Jha said this past week that he was pleased with the progression of the fall COVID-19 booster shot campaign by President Biden’s administration. With Omicron subvariants BA.4 and BA.5 circulating widely this season, vaccine manufacturers have developed and received FDA approval for booster shots tailored to address the unique types of the subvariants’ coronavirus spike proteins.

The booster shots were distributed to healthcare centers in September and, Dr. Jha estimated, between 13 million and 15 million Americans would have received the so-called bivalent booster by the end of the week. “We think that’s a really good start. Also, let me be very clear, we need to continue and up that pace,” Dr. Jha said.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Dr. Jha as he continues to coordinate the administration’s response to the coronavirus and its variants.
  • For Commissioner Califf to seek God’s guidance as he leads the FDA.
  • For wisdom for FDA officials and researchers as they test and review medications and therapies.
