Army Activates New Air and Missile Defense Unit in Europe

Headquarters in Germany will control all Army air and missile defense in Europe.

The U.S. Army announced the activation of the 52nd Air Defense Artillery Brigade headquarters in Sembach, Germany, last week. The unit will command and control Army air and missile defense forces under the U.S. European Command. President Biden announced the new air defense brigade at the NATO summit in June.

“Our mission here in Europe is uniquely rewarding thanks to our ability to work closely with NATO on a regular basis,” the 52nd ADA’s first commander, Colonel Bruce Bredlow, stated. “We’re looking forward to building new connective tissue at the tactical level with our Allies and partners and expanding our combined capacity through interoperability.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Colonel Bredlow as he leads the 52nd Air Defense Artillery Brigade.
  • For wisdom for the president and his military advisors as they increase defense systems in Europe.
  • For General Darryl Williams as he heads the U.S. Europe and Africa Command.
