Secretary Austin Pledges Care for Service Member Families

Releases memo and memorandum outlining effort details.

Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin published a memo last week, along with a memorandum issued by the Department of Defense, outlining action steps the department will be taking to support families of service members through the unique challenges that they face. The department points out and intends to address four areas that deeply affect the lives of service member families; affordable basic needs, supporting multiple moves across the globe, child care, and spouse employment.

“The Department of Defense has a sacred obligation to take care of our service members and families,” Secretary Austin wrote. “Doing so is a national security imperative. Our military families provide the strong foundation for our force, and we owe them our full support.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For discernment for Secretary Austin as he seeks to increase support for military service members.
  • That Defense Department officials would be led by the Lord as they implement plans and programs for active-duty troops and their families.
  • For U.S. Armed Forces personnel as they balance the challenges of military service with caring for their spouses and children.
