Admittedly Wrong

Lying lips are an abomination to the LORD, but those who act faithfully are His delight.  – Proverbs 12:22

Fill your life with trustworthy people, if you can! This can be more difficult than it sounds. Even Jesus had a “devil” among His companions. He personally felt the sting of betrayal and He experienced the intimate cost of sin.

Jesus was the personification of love walking on Earth. People were drawn to Him by their recognition of His great compassion. But not everyone would humble themselves to accept a benevolence so pure that it revealed their own shortcomings.

On the night of the Last Supper, Jesus sat at the table with His closest companions and made the shocking announcement that one of them would betray Him. No one immediately drew his sword and accused Judas Iscariot. No, he was a polished guy, upstanding in appearance, to the extent they put him in charge of their finances! But his true character would be soon revealed. Not long after, two men would be hanging on trees. One, Judas, faithless in heart, preferred self-destruction over addressing his problem with sin. He took his life rather than ask for forgiveness. The other, Jesus, hung in self-sacrifice, offering a love inclusive enough to cover the thief dying next to Him merely because he had the faith to ask.

Trustworthy people are not perfect, but you will recognize them by their humble acceptance of God’s grace. Support candidates and public officials in America that show their faithfulness to God’s principles by telling the truth even when it is costly. And be ready to bring people into your life, or public office, who have proven character.

Today’s Verse: Proverbs 12:22

but those who act faithfully are his delight.

2 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 2 He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world. 3 And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments. 4 Whoever says “I know him” but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him, 5 but whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in him: 6 whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.
