President Traveling to the Middle East This Week

Israel and Saudi Arabia are on the itinerary.

President Joe Biden will travel to the Middle East for a brief visit beginning Wednesday. Among other things, his trip marks a move toward a more traditional American foreign policy with Saudi Arabia, as oil diplomacy and geopolitics are causing him to compromise on campaign promises to isolate the kingdom over human rights violations.

Although oil and the increasing supply needs of the U.S. are the centerpiece of his Middle East trip, the president’s plans also include a visit to Israel where he will meet with interim Prime Minister Yair Lapid and Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas. He will announce $100 million in aid to Palestinian hospitals in East Jerusalem. During the trip, he is expected to visit the Augusta Victoria Hospital.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For good judgment for the president and his advisors as he travels to the Middle East.
  • For wisdom for the president’s administration as they weigh oil concerns against his pledge to support human rights.
  • For safe travels for the president and his entourage.
