White House Considers Waiving Smog Rules for Cheaper Gas

Governors urging smog waiver.

The White House is considering combating rising gas prices by waiving summertime environmental gasoline regulations. Oil refiners and blenders sometimes mix low-cost, high carbon footprint ingredients such as butane into gasoline to create a higher volume of gas for the pump. Since more people in America drive during the summertime for vacations and such, the federal government prohibits the incorporation of such ingredients during the summer months to reduce car-related carbon emissions.

No final decision has been made, but certain legislators are pushing heavily for the waiving of summer-blend gas. With midterm concerns surrounding the increasing inflation, President Biden’s administration is assessing possible ways to bring inflation down.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the president and his advisors as ways to reduce inflation are evaluated.
  • For members of Congress as they urge the administration to address the rising price of fuel.
