Pentagon is Monitoring Russia’s Nuclear Arsenal

Concerns have been voiced that President Putin may use nuclear weapons in Ukraine.

Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said the Pentagon is closely monitoring Russia’s nuclear arsenal, but does not believe President Vladimir Putin will use the nuclear weapons anytime soon. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and other military leaders are being briefed multiple times a week about the matter.

“In light of what’s going on in Ukraine and certainly in light of the early rhetoric, we are actively monitoring every single day,” Press Secretary Kirby stated. “Even today, the secretary remains comfortable that we have an appropriate strategic deterrent posture in place and there’s no need to make any changes to it.”

There are reports that Kremlin officials are concerned President Putin may resort to using nuclear weapons since Ukraine’s government has not been ousted.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Austin as he reviews intelligence and data on Russia.
  • For discernment for Pentagon officials as they monitor the Kremlin’s moves.
