President to Reinstate Ethanol for Summer

Measure intended to lower gasoline prices.

President Joe Biden has announced that the Environmental Protection Agency will reinstate the use of 15 percent ethanol blends in gasoline for the summer driving season. The president said the measure will lower gas prices in the U.S. and also be politically expedient for him with legislators from ethanol-producing states. It is expected that the cost-benefit to consumers will be around ten cents per gallon.

The EPA will issue an emergency waiver to lift current restrictions on the blended fuel nationwide. The waiver is slated to take effect on June 1 and last through September 15.

The president’s announcement was made during a visit to the POET bioprocessing plant outside Des Moines, Iowa.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For wisdom for the president and his administration as they address rising inflation.
  • For Administrator Regan as he oversees the EPA and issuing of the emergency waiver for ethanol-blended fuel use.
