Defense Department Installs new U.S. Central Command General

General Kenneth “Frank” McKenzie retires.

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the retirement of Marine Corps General Kenneth “Frank” McKenzie last week. He had served in the military for 42 years, heading CENTCOM for the past three.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin oversaw the change of command ceremony in Tampa, Florida. U.S. Army General Michael “Erik” Kurilla, who was confirmed to the position by the Senate in mid-February, has been installed as the new CENTCOM head.

Secretary Austin stated, “U.S. Central Command will continue to thrive under the steadfast leadership of General Kurilla during a critical time in a region that remains dangerous and complex.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For General Kurilla as he takes command of the military operations and activities of U.S. Central Command.
  • For Secretary Austin to seek God’s wisdom as he leads the Defense Department.
  • For the president and Joint Chiefs of Staff as a nuclear agreement with Iran is pursued.
