Reasserts claim that Taiwan is part of China.
President Biden sent a delegation to Taiwan on Tuesday in support of the country and its democracy. Within a day, China spoke out against the delegation, reasserting its claims that Taiwan is a part of China, not a separate country.
“The will of the Chinese people to defend our country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity is immovable. Whoever United States sends to show support for Taiwan is bound to fail,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said.
In watching Russia resort to violence after asserting that parts of Ukraine are actually a part of Russia, the growing concern over similar declarations made by China has increased exponentially across the global community in recent days.
