F-22 Fighter Jets Sent to UAE

U.S. response to Houthi rebel missile attacks.

Yemeni Houthi rebels targeted the United Arab Emirates with multiple missile attacks in late January and early February, a recent outgrowth of the conflict that in Yemen that has spanned years. In response to the threat against the UAE, the United States sent in F-22 to the Al-Dhafra Air Base in Abu Dhabi on Sunday, which currently houses 2,000 U.S. troops, to help aid in the response.

“The Raptors’ presence will bolster already strong partner nation defenses and puts destabilizing forces on notice that the U.S. and our partners are committed to enabling peace and stability in the region,” stated Lt. General Greg Guillot, commander of the Air Force’s arm of U.S. Central Command.
