Intends to plan and build new, cleaner upgrades.
This past week, the Department of Energy announced the “Building a Better Grid” initiative, enabled by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The initiative will work with local communities to establish their electrical needs and the needs of the nation and will partner with industry stakeholders to expand the U.S. power grid to accommodate clean energy functionality.
Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm said, “The foundation of our climate and clean energy goals is a safe, reliable, and resilient electric grid that is planned hand-in-hand with community partners and industry stakeholders.” Secretary Granholm hopes that this initiative will move forward President Biden’s goal for America to run on 100% clean energy by 2035.
