Issue 524 – Verse of the Week

January 6th – January 12th, 2022

And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts.   Colossians 3:15

Your Choice

In this new year, you will be faced with challenges. There will be decisions you need to make for yourself, your family, your finances, even your worship. The coronavirus lingers and inflation is real. The news is seldom reassuring. You have choices to make.  Psalm 37 begins with an important caution, “Fret not yourself because of evildoers.” You might blame circumstances or you may blame others when you are down, but the Bible calls this fretting yourself. Two verses later, the psalmist David says, “Trust in the Lord.” That is an alternate choice. Today’s verse tells you that the peace of Christ within your hearts is something you need to allow to be there… you have the ability to evict this peace through a lack of faith. This year, consider the importance of your choices—and don’t fret but let!
