Senator Schumer Wants Relief at Gas Pumps

He is looking at the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said at a press conference he was calling on President Biden to tap into the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to lower gas prices on consumers.

“Let’s get that price of gas down right now, and this will do it,” the senator from New York said. “We need immediate relief at the gas pump and the place to look is the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.”

The national average on a gallon of gasoline is up more than $1 since a year ago, rising from $2.39 to $3.41. The reserve was filled under President Trump’s administration when the price of crude was negative due to oversupply. It is intended to be kept for times of crisis.

Earlier Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm said the president is “all over the issue,“ but she did not identify a policy to support her claim. “The president is looking at the limited tools he has. I have nothing to announce on this, but know he is looking and evaluating all of his options, limited though they may be in the United States,” the energy secretary said.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For President Biden and his advisors, including Energy Secretary Granholm, as they consider means to alleviate the price of gasoline at the pump.
  • For U.S. officials evaluating the increases in costs of fossil fuels, including heating oil needed for the coming winter months.
  • That the administration would seek God’s guidance as they curtail fossil fuel production in the U.S.
