National Climate Advisor Comments on Energy Goals

President to promote methane reduction target at COP26.

White House Climate Advisor Gina McCarthy stated the president’s commitment to greenhouse gas reduction is as strong as ever. The administration signed an agreement with the European Union ahead of COP26 to reduce methane emissions by 30% by 2030. President Biden also intends to host a meeting with state governors to advance his agenda on green energy once he returns from Glasgow. The president was unsuccessful in convincing Congress to pass his spending and infrastructure legislation ahead of his trip to the climate summit.

“Discussions are continuing. They’re accelerating. We are very hopeful that this will pass. And we’re going to keep pushing until we get the kind of investments that match our ambition,” Advisor McCarthy said. “While you will have these times of opportunities for some to say that we need more coal or other fossil fuels as our first line of defense, I think our argument would be that we’re moving to a clean energy future in the United States and that’s our first defense against spiked energy prices.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Climate Advisor McCarthy to grasp and balance the importance and impact of renewable energy goals upon energy use.
  • For the president’s administration to wisely consider the energy needs of the country as they implement energy reduction strategies.
