VA Offering Disabled Vets Vocational Rehabilitation

Department of Veterans Affairs partnering with federal agencies and the private sector.

The Department of Veterans Affairs has announced the offering of programs in observance of National Disability Employment Awareness Month and in recognition of Compensated Work Therapy Vocational Rehabilitation Week, that partner with businesses and government agencies to increase employment opportunities for disabled veterans. Over 800 counselors, specialists, managers, and peer support are working with those who have mental health and psychosocial issues to secure financial independence through meaningful employment.

“The core philosophy of compensated work therapy is that given the right support, all persons with a disability can contribute productively to the workforce,” said Veterans Health Administration Vocational Rehabilitation Service National Director Shana Bakken. “VHA’s vocational rehabilitation teams are working to ensure every Veteran who has a goal of employment has the opportunity to make a worthwhile contribution in their local communities through meaningful work.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Director Shana Bakken as she leads this veterans’ health program.
  • For the counselors, specialists, managers, and peers as they work with disabled veterans.
  • For the federal agencies and private companies as they provide employment opportunities to veterans.
