Pentagon Names New TransComm Leader

Air Force General Van Ovost to lead global multiservice efforts.

Air Force General Jacqueline Van Ovost has been appointed as the leader of U.S. Transportation Command. TransComm is one of 11 of the Pentagon’s “combatant commands” that coordinate large-scale U.S. military efforts around the world. She was the former vice director of the Joint Staff at the Pentagon before taking this role.

At the change-of-command ceremony, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin called General Van Ovost a “legend of a leader,” saying, “we need every Jackie Van Ovost we can get.” General Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, commended Van Ovost’s track record at the ceremony. “There is not a single person out there who is more prepared to lead TransCom than Jackie Van Ovost.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For wisdom for General Van Ovost as she steps into her new position.
  • For officials of the Pentagon as they promote and appoint military leaders.
  • For every commander as they oversee and prepare their particular combatant command.
