Education Secretary Announces Puerto Rican Improvements

Commonwealth to receive pandemic relief and other federal education aid.

This month, Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona met with Interim Secretary of Education Eliezer Ramos of Puerto Rico regarding steps to improve students’ educational outcomes. The Puerto Rico Education Sustainability (PRES) team has been formed to support that commonwealth’s education department and higher education institutions as well as stewarding federal funds to improve students’ education outcomes.

“This is a major change in the relationship between the United States Department of Education and the Puerto Rico Department of Education,” said Puerto Rico Interim Secretary of Education Eliezer Ramos. “We have the same goals, and this collaborative effort will move forward the agenda of the students and teachers of Puerto Rico.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Cardona to seek God’s direction as he heads his department.
  • For Interim Secretary Ramos as he oversees the implementation of federal aid in Puerto Rico.
  • For students in the island territory who have survived earthquakes and hurricanes in addition to the pandemic school closures.
