Capitol Fencing Reinstalled for D.C. Rally

Law enforcement is concerned about the prospect of violence.

Protective fencing is once again going to surround the U.S. Capitol next week as Capitol Police anticipate potential problems as a result of a rally to be held on September 18. An intelligence evaluation from the Capitol Police said there would be violence at the rally.

Although no specific measures have been announced, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi hinted during her weekly press conference at extra precautions for the  rally saying, “We intend to have the integrity of the Capitol be intact.”

The security plan being finalized calls for fencing to be put up outside the inner perimeter of the Capitol building and the Supreme Court, though not around the congressional office buildings nearby.

The organization Look Ahead America requested a permit for up to 500 people to demonstrate at noon on September 18 in Union Square. The event is intended to support those arrested as a result of events at the Capitol on January 6 and to call for justice for a protestor who was fatally shot that day.

Briefings for U.S. legislators are expected in the coming days.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Speaker Pelosi and members of Congress as measures are taken to secure the Capitol building.
  • For demonstrators to be peaceful during the September 18 rally near the Capitol.
