DHS to Manage Afghan Immigrant Resettlement

New task force has been created to handle the initiative.

The Department of Homeland Security announced on Sunday that President Biden has directed them to direct and organize the resettlement of immigrants being evacuated from Afghanistan in the United States. The Unified Coordination Group will be led by Robert J. Fenton Jr. and will be managing the immigration processing, COVID-19 testing, and life transition support for over 100,000 evacuees.

“The Department of Homeland Security is prepared to serve as the lead federal agency coordinating efforts across the federal government to welcome vulnerable Afghans to our Nation in a way that is consistent with our laws and our values,” Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas stated.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Robert J. Fenton Jr. as he heads the resettlement task force.
  • For Secretary Mayorkas to seek God’s guidance as DHS seeks to manage the influx of refugees.
  • For President Biden and his administration as they continue to deal with the situation in Afghanistan.
