State Department Report Indicates Refugee Crises

Officials in Qatar are concerned about conditions at refugee locations.

Evacuations from Kabul’s international airport to U.S. military installations in varied countries have been provided for tens of thousands of Afghans and other foreigners.

One key partner in the Middle East is Qatar, which has been receiving and housing many thousands of evacuees. According to an internal State Department report, Qatari officials are reporting the situation is growing increasingly dire there.

Some Afghans and even Americans who have been housed at the bases are speaking out about the lack of space, food, water, and facilities. But the urgent writings from Qatari officials to their American counterparts speak to how thin-stretched facilities have become… and the risks that it entails,  including for human trafficking.

When asked about it, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said the administration was aware of issues, but quickly working to improve them.  “Certainly, we want the individuals who are being evacuated to be treated with respect. We also want them to be safe, hence the speed necessity, but we worked to improve the conditions as soon as we learned,” she said.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For U.S. and foreign personnel working to improve health and security conditions at overcrowded refugee camps as people are evacuated from Afghanistan.
  • For the many allies who are accepting refugees, such as Spain, Italy, Germany, and others in the Middle East.
  • For the president and his advisors as they continue to strategize on evacuation efforts and care for refugees.
