Justice Barrett Rejects Vaccine Mandate Appeal

Indiana University students had sought a block on the school’s requirements.

On Thursday, Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett denied the petition from Indiana University students claiming that the school’s vaccine mandate violates their constitutional rights as well as state law. Justice Barrett is the circuit justice over the 7th Circuit and acted on her own to reject the request for emergency relief.

A panel of judges from the Seventh Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals had refused to block the mandate the week before. The ruling in favor of the mandate cited the “balance of harms and the public interest favor Indiana University.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the justices of the Supreme Court as they consider cases from their districts to hear.
  • For U.S. officials as health mandates and decisions are decided and implemented.
  • For the Department of Health and Human Services as treatments and therapies are continued to be considered.
