Issue 501 – Verse of the Week

July 29th – August 4th, 2021

VERSE OF THE WEEK

I bow down toward your holy temple and give thanks to your name for your steadfast love and your faithfulness, for you have exalted above all things your name and your word. Psalm 138:2

Solid Ground

It may not be often, but sometimes in life days come when you feel knee-deep in quicksand. The way to handle this sensation is to recall some of God’s promises and pray, and He returns your feet to solid ground. The Bible is filled with the promises of God. David recalled two of them in today’s verse: His promise to steadfastly love you, and His promise to faithfully guide and protect you. Some say there are 150 promises — others as many as 365, one for each day of the year! The Lord has also promised to strengthen you (Philippians 4:13), to never leave you (Deuteronomy 31:6), to give you a purpose (Jeremiah 29:11), to hear when you call (John 14:13-14), and to give you peace (John 14:27). Embracing His promises will grow your faith. Find a promise from His Word today and plant your feet firmly upon it.
