U.S. Bombs Iranian-backed Militia Forces

Rockets launched at U.S. forces in retaliation.

On Sunday, President Biden authorized the U.S. Air Force to conduct a bombing raid on facilities determined to be used by Iranian-backed militia groups along the Iraq-Syria border. According to Pentagon Press Secretary Kirby, the militias were using the facilities to launch drone attacks against American forces in Iraq. This is the second military action that President Biden has approved since taking office.

While the Iraqi government condemned the attack and members of the militia pledged their revenge on the United States, the U.S. Defense Department stated, “The strikes were both necessary to address the threat and appropriately limited in scope. As a matter of domestic law, the President took this action pursuant to his Article II authority to protect U.S. personnel in Iraq.”

One day after the bombing, American forces in Syria experienced incoming rocket fire, resulting in no casualties.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the president and his advisors wisdom on if and how to take military action.
  • For Defense Secretary Austin as he heads the U.S. military.
  • That God would bring peace to the Middle East.
