Secretary Blinken Meets with Pope Francis

Pope expresses affection for the American people.

In Rome on Monday, Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with Pope Francis. The secretary is the highest-ranking member of President Biden’s administration to have met with the Pope thus far. Secretary Blinken said, “I was very gratified by the meeting and gratified as well by the strong leadership of his Holiness on the pandemic, on climate change, on the challenge that we have to address when it comes to irregular migration and refugees.“

One item that was absent from the discussion between the two men was the ongoing debate of American Catholic bishops about withholding communion from President Biden due to his political stance on abortion. Pope Francis has publicly warned church leaders that they should not politicize communion. U.S. bishops have voted in favor of writing a document that could bar all pro-choice political leaders from receiving communion.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For President Biden to grow closer to the Lord through his faith.
  • For Secretary Blinken to lead diplomatic efforts to protect religious freedom around the world.
  • That the president’s administration would seek God’s direction and wisdom.
