House Creates Economic Diversity Panel

Group will focus on economic fairness in post-COVID nation.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi has named eight House members to serve on the new Committee on Economic Diversity and Fairness in Growth. Representative Vicente Gonzalez of Texas said the newly formed panel will “assure that when we divide the pie of American prosperity, it’s fair and equitable for Americans across the country, regardless of the region or the color or the religion of your background.”

Economic diversity panel members stated that more spending on infrastructure and social programs would help create jobs and help end economic disparities. Some economists have warned another round of government spending would push up already rising inflation. However, legislators have downplayed those concerns.

“Prior to COVID-19, we were under our inflation targets,” said panel member Representative Sara Jacobs of California. “The Fed sets an inflation target of two to three percent. We were not reaching that for many, many years. And so, this also could be a natural rebalancing of our economy.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For wisdom for U.S. governing officials as fairness and equity are promoted regarding the American economy.
  • For members of Congress and the administration as they seek equity across all sectors of the American public.
  • For economists and advisors as they monitor the rising inflation in the United States.
