Debate Begins on Banning President from Communion

American Catholic Bishops warned from political decision making by Vatican leaders.

On Wednesday, U.S. bishops of the Roman Catholic Church began debate regarding whether or not the church would withhold communion from political leaders who are pro-abortion. President Biden is purportedly a devout Catholic but has openly supported the rights of women to end their pregnancies, though he is said to be personally morally opposed to the practice. The final vote is not expected for several months.

Recently, Pope Francis preached that communion “is not the reward of saints, but the bread of sinners.” His top doctrinal official, Cardinal Luis Ladaria warned the American bishops that the upcoming vote had the potential to “become a source of discord rather than unity within the episcopate and the larger church in the United States.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the Lord to lead the American Bishops to honor Him as they make their decision.
  • For the president to seek God’s leading as he goes about the business of his office.
  • That God would provide President Biden with strong spiritual leaders.
