Interior Expands Offshore Wind Production

Creating new power production turbines in Gulf of Mexico gathering interest from companies.

The Department of the Interior announced on Tuesday that it would begin to expand the administration’s offshore wind energy production plan to the Gulf of Mexico. The announcement kicks off gathering information and interest in developing facilities on the Outer Continental Shelf. President Biden’s administration has set a goal to increase offshore energy production by 30 gigawatts by 2030.

Secretary Deb Haaland said of the new plan, “The Interior Department is committed to developing a robust and sustainable clean energy economy. We know that offshore wind development has the potential to create tens of thousands of good-paying, union jobs across the nation. This is an important first step to see what role the Gulf may play in this exciting frontier.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • That the president’s administration would seek God’s direction as they support alternate power sources.
  • For the Interior Department as wind projects are expanded.
  • For wisdom for Secretary Haaland as she leads the Department of the Interior.
