Revive Us Again

Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you? – Psalm 85:6

The favor, forgiveness, and salvation the writer of Psalm 85 speaks of are found in the Lord Jesus. Each individual who receives Christ as their Savior and Lord receives all three. The nation whose leaders submit to God will also be blessed. With the division between political parties, immoral activity accepted as the norm, and the antagonism displayed toward believers, many think that the United States will be facing a reckoning.

The Lord longs for relationship and never stops reaching out to humanity. Though the United States appears to drift further and further from the Lord, He promises to always be with those who believe in Him. His name is Immanuel, which means “God with us.” His mercy is new every morning and He is a refuge for all who seek Him. Praise God for His grace through Jesus Christ. Whatever the circumstances are here on Earth, God is able to take care of His children.

The believer’s responsibility is to continue to pray for the nation’s repentance and revival. “And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will He hears us” (1 John 5:14). A nation yielded to Him is God’s desire. But salvation comes first to the individual. Do your part in standing for what is right in the United States. Continue to pray that God will open the eyes of the governing officials and citizens of the nation to His love, forgiveness, and grace in the Lord Jesus.

For this reason, because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints, 16 I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, 17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, 18 having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might 20 that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. 22 And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.
