Texas and Louisiana Hit by Severe Weather

Torrential rain, flooding and tornadoes devastate some areas.

Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards declared the situation in his state urgent due to the ongoing severe weather impacting southwest Louisiana.  A flood emergency has been declared in Lake Charles as several people have been reported trapped.

Rescuers in boats have been pulling people from their homes and some parents picked their children up from school in kayaks because the roads were impassable due to flooding.

Millions in southeast Texas remain under flash flood watches because of torrential rain that in some areas dropped as much as 10 inches. Power outages have occurred.

On Wednesday, the National Weather Service has sent survey crews to assess the damage in Fayette County Texas after tornados went through the area the day before.

More rain is possible through Friday and other parts of the region are being impacted, such as Arkansas and Mississippi.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For first responders and other officials working to rescue those trapped by flooding.
  • For safety for those who are without power and dealing with downed power lines.
  • For the National Weather Service as they offer assistance.
