First Lady Visits Reopened Smithsonian

Celebrates with chocolate chip cookies from the White House.

The Smithsonian closed its doors in March 2020 in its efforts to help stop the spread of COVID-19. Finally, this past Friday, once the CDC further loosened pandemic regulations as Americans continue to get vaccinated, the Smithsonian reopened its doors to the public.

First Lady Jill Biden went to the reopening, going on tours, talking to staff, and helping to pass out the chocolate chip cookies provided by the White House for all reopening-day patrons.

“It feels so special to me and it does feel hopeful,” the first lady said in a speech to staff members. “Inch by inch we’re moving forward and we’ve got to just get this pandemic under control,” she added.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the first lady as she advocates for educational causes.
  • With gratitude as institutions reopen and head toward normalcy.
  • For the president and his administration as strategies are developed to fully recover from the waning pandemic.
