Labor Department Holds Forum for Construction Industry

Cooperatively offering federal guidance with HUD and SBA.

U.S. Department of Labor agencies in the Southwest hosted the 2021Virtual Construction Forum this past week to facilitate understanding of federal requirements regarding construction employment in the region. Officials from the Small Business Administration and Department of Housing and Urban Development also took part in the two-day virtual event.

The forum focused “on federal regulations governing employment in the construction industry to help the public, including employers, workers and advocates, understand critical worker protections during the coronavirus pandemic.” Workplace safety, employment benefits, and contractor compliance presentations were also offered.

Ahead of the forum, Wage and Hour Division Regional Administrator Betty Campbell said, “The U.S. Department of Labor has strong relationships with other federal agencies, and we continue to work together to provide information and guidance that best serves our nation’s workers and businesses. The 2021 Virtual Construction Forum will maximize the department’s impact and the corresponding benefits for businesses and workers as we continue to navigate the changing landscape of the workforce during the pandemic.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For wisdom for Labor Secretary Walsh as he leads his agency.
  • For Secretary Fudge to have discernment as she heads HUD.
  • For Administrator Guzman as her agency works with small businesses.
