Social Media CEOs Testify Before Congress

Bipartisan efforts to balance truth and censorship continue in the House.

The House Energy and Commerce Committee led the congressional hearing on Thursday, attended by the CEOs of Google, Facebook, and Twitter about the misinformation campaigns of the 2020 election. “The time for self-regulation is over. It’s time we legislate to hold you accountable,” said committee chairman Representative Frank Pallone of New Jersey.

The CEOs voice their own concerns, holding their ground on the decisions they made at the time regarding misinformation by both domestic and foreign influencers. “I don’t think we should be the arbiters of truth and I don’t think the government should be either,” Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey said.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For discernment for Congress as they consider social media guidelines under the First Amendment.
  • For members of the House as they evaluate moves to protect free speech.
  • For wisdom for the FCC as they enforce regulations on communication.
