Vice President Calls For Gun Control

Places support behind universal background checks.

As the nation experienced another incident of gun violence in Colorado, Vice President Harris urged Congress and the nation to pass new gun control measures to try to prevent future mass casualties. She said that meaningful change would need to come through the legislative process saying, “If we really want something that is going to be lasting, we need to pass legislation.”

Among the changes the vice president called for was a national background check program that would apply to any person owning a firearm. She also stated that often the piecemeal approach to gun control has allowed too many individuals to slip through the system. Vice President Harris reassured Americans that the president’s administration would not be trying to take away people who legally own firearms.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the president’s administration to seek God’s wisdom on how best to reduce violence in the nation.
  • For Congress as they consider new gun control measures.
  • That God would accomplish His purposes through the actions of the U.S. federal government.
