Extension of National Guard Presence Requested

Capitol police ask for additional two months of extra security.

On Thursday, the Capitol Police requested that the National Guard would continue to provide security for an additional two months following the two months of support provided since the events of January 6. The request comes after the FBI warned of a second possible attack by anti-government militias on Thursday, tied to a theory that former President Trump would try to reclaim the presidency on March 4.

According to officials at the Defense Department confirmed that the request is under consideration, with National Guardsmen being scouted from different state’s reserves. The Capitol Police memo also states that the presence would slowly diminish over time as the threat becomes less of a concern. Prior to the request, the nearly 5000 guardsmen were set to return home on March 12.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • That God would guide the Defense Department on the best course of action to take.
  • That the Capitol Police would be protected from further threats.
  • For Congress to be able to fulfill their duties without disruption.
