U.S. Troops Target of Rocket Attack

Ten rockets strike air base in Iraq.

A military base in western Iraq that hosts American troops was the target of ten rockets launched on Wednesday. The rockets hit the Ain-al-Asad air base, where coalition troops were, according to Operation Inherent Resolve spokesman Colonel Wayne Marotto.

There were no immediate reports of any injuries, according to Iraq’s military, who said the attack was launched from just west of the city of Baghdad, close to the base. Pentagon spokesman John Kirby stated that, while all U.S. service members are accounted for, a U.S. contractor did die after having “a cardiac episode while sheltering.”

The attack is the second on coalition forces in the country within a month. U.S. forces have been targeted in recent months by Iranian-backed militias In Iraq. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the latest attack.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the safety of American troops wherever they are deployed.
  • For God to guide coalition leaders as they counter Iran’s attacks in the region.
  • For God to give officials in the president’s administration discernment as they evaluate ways to respond.
