Security Leadership Testify on Capitol Unrest

Point to missed intelligence for events of January 6th.

On Tuesday, members of the Capitol security leadership teams testified before Congress to provide an explanation for the breakdown of security during the events that took place on January 6. Those interviewed included the former chief of the Capitol Police and former House Sergeant-at-Arms. Both these officials resigned following the unrest at the Capitol.

According to former Chief Steven Sund, the U.S. Capitol Police are not trained or equipped to deal with such a massive crowd without assistance from other agencies. He stated that an FBI report citing online posts that called for potential violence on the day of the rally had not been shared with him. The report created within his department had assessed the likelihood of unrest for the January 6th event as improbably or remote.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the Lord to help investigators get to the bottom of the events that took place on Jan 6.
  • That God would guide security agencies as they seek to guard the Capitol against unrest or violence.
  • That God would protect the lives of those all who serve in Washington, D.C..
