Treasury Secretary Virtually Attends G7 Finance Meeting

Provides assurance of U.S. commitment to international support for allies.

On Friday, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen virtually attended the G7 finance meeting with international finance ministers and central bank governors. She emphasized how the president’s administration “places a high priority on deepening our international engagement and strengthening our alliances.”

The treasury secretary said the G7 should be focused on fiscal support to promote economic recovery. Regarding climate change, Secretary Yellen said, “we understand the crucial role that the United States must play in the global climate effort.” She concluded by expressing her belief that G7 countries must address the need of low-income countries for assistance to respond to the pandemic.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For God to accomplish His purpose through the U.S. Treasury Department.
  • For discernment for Secretary Yellen as she heads the department.
  • For the G7 nations as they craft international economic recovery strategies.
