VERSE OF THE WEEK

A joyful heart is good medicine. – Proverbs 17:22

The Little Things

A recent article in The Wall Street Journal said that people are finding joy in the little things during the pandemic, tempering their comment with “after they get the vaccine.” Vaccine or not, it is God’s purpose for you that you should have joy. Think about the things that bring you joy today—not just a happy feeling, but a deep-down contentment that makes your heart smile. Maybe it’s a tangerine-colored sunrise, the giggle of an infant, a note from a friend, a hummingbird hovering over a nectar-rich flower bed. Or perhaps it is from a snowflake on your glove, the tinkling of a fountain, the look of your dining room decked out for a family celebration. It does not take much. But the greatest joy of all is in knowing, loving, and spending time with God. The Psalmist expressed it, “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” Take time to find joy in the little things today; but more, take the time to be filled with the joy of knowing Jesus!
