State Department Announces New Embassy in India

Ground broken on Friday for new chancery building.

The U.S. State Department reported on Friday that ground has been broken for the building of a new U.S. Embassy building in New Delhi, India. The new chancery building is being constructed within the current diplomatic enclave, which consists of 28 acres.

The department stated that the construction highlights “the deepening ties of friendship that undergird the U.S.-India Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership” and that “the new design will provide a secure and resilient platform for U.S. diplomacy in New Delhi.”

The project is expected to be completed in 2027 by the Bureau of Overseas Building Operations and there are plans to renovate the existing chancery building in the future.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the State Department as officials and diplomats work to strengthen ties around the globe.
  • For the Bureau of Overseas Building Operations as it constructs the new, more secure embassy building.
  • For the project to benefit both the United States and the nation of India.
