DOJ Files Suit Against Alabama Corrections Agency

Prison system objects to allegations, says suit ignores years of progress.

The Justice Department issued a lawsuit against the Alabama prison system that was filed and signed by Attorney General William Barr this past week. The lawsuit acts on reports documenting the pervasive instances of violence between both inmates and staff members that have occurred since 2016.

While Alabama’s Department of Corrections agrees that circumstances were dire in the past, the agency released a statement the day after the suit was filed. “The complaint filed by the DOJ plainly ignores the years’ worth of information provided by the ADOC regarding the substantial and impactful reforms it continues to undertake.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the Justice Department in their efforts to protect Americans in the prison system.
  • That integrity and accountability would pervade the Alabama Department of Corrections.
  • For God to direct Attorney General Barr as he leads his department.
  • For President Trump as he directs and approves efforts to reduce violence.
