Senators Join in Push for Stimulus Checks

Cash payments needed to mitigate economic effects of coronavirus.

Senators Josh Hawley of Missouri and Bernie Sanders of Vermont have joined in an unusual bipartisan pairing to push for a measure that would provide another cash payment to individuals.

The bill, introduced Thursday, would give $1,200 to each individual making $75,000 a year or less, and $500 per child, similar to the payments that were granted in the spring under the CARES Act. Their goal is to mitigate the economic impact that the coronavirus and business lockdowns with job losses have created.

Senator Hawley said, “My view is that we want a vote on this one way or another, before we leave town.”

“All that Senator Hawley and I are asking for is the exact same language, word for word, that was in the CARES Act,” Senator Sanders said.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Congress to take up the matter of relief for individuals before they end this session.
  • For government officials trying to remedy the economic impact the coronavirus has had all across America.
