God Is At Work

When you feel discontented and incomplete.

2 Corinthians 12:10 – For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

There are many accounts in Scripture of people who were entitled to be bitter because of their circumstances, but they made the choice not to be. Consider Joseph. He was hated, envied, betrayed, sold into slavery, falsely accused, and imprisoned. Or Paul. He was beaten with rods, stoned, received lashes, shipwrecked, threatened by robbers and his own people, suffered cold and exposure, went hungry, and was imprisoned in Rome. Yet, Joseph said that what others had meant for evil, God meant for good; furthermore, it wasn’t his brothers who sent him into Egypt, but God. And Paul said that he wasn’t ashamed of weaknesses he may have exhibited. For when Paul was weak, the power of Christ rested upon him and made him strong.

If you are feeling dissatisfied with the circumstances life has dealt you, it is important to remember that God actively involves Himself in your life, including in its worst moments, and He in His wisdom knows exactly what He is doing. Find comfort in knowing that He is not just a heavenly observer. He is working behind the scenes to bring about ends that are for your benefit and His glory.

Pray With Us

God of Glory, thank You once again for the challenges You set before me in Your Word. With amazing accounts like Joseph and Paul, how can I complain when I think I am facing evildoers? Your mercy overwhelms me, when sometimes what I want to see is your judgment.  Your Word also reminds me that the scales of Your justice will balance in the end, and the day will come when all will bow before You. Let me be satisfied in the knowledge that I am Your child. Strengthen my faith, I pray; let me see how You are at work. I acknowledge Your sovereignty over all things. Blessed be Your Name, Amen.

  • Praise God that He is sovereign and in control of all things.
  • Pray that God will enable you to rest in His plans that He has laid out from the beginning and is working it out in You.
  • Pray that God will lead you in forgiving any of those who have hurt you.
  • Pray for the Holy Spirit’s help in finding contentment in knowing that all that happens to you is for a purpose.
  • Pray that God will help you in being satisfied with His with and through.
  • Pray that your relationship with God will continue to grow and deepen.
