Words You Can Count On

Every word of God proves true. – Proverbs 30:5

What is truth? Pilate asked this during his interrogation of Jesus. Jesus had just told him His purpose for being on the earth. “For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world—to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice (John 18:37). Earlier He told His disciples, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6,).

With news being widespread on the internet, it’s difficult to tell what’s true and what isn’t. Most people have serious doubts about what once reputable news stations have to say. People are turning to other news sources. One thing believers can rely on is the Word of God. Sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference between what Jesus said 2000 years ago and what is going on today. God’s Word is something all can count on.

No matter what is going on in the world, you can turn to Him to find direction, comfort, and hope. When the news gets too unnerving, turn it off and tune in to the Lord in prayer and Bible study. Pray for the nation and its citizens to be lovers of the truth in Jesus Christ. “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12).

Today’s Verse: Proverbs 30:5

    he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.

How can a young man keep his way pure?
    By guarding it according to your word.
10 With my whole heart I seek you;
    let me not wander from your commandments!
11 I have stored up your word in my heart,
    that I might not sin against you.
12 Blessed are you, O Lord;
    teach me your statutes!
13 With my lips I declare
    all the rules of your mouth.
14 In the way of your testimonies I delight
    as much as in all riches.
15 I will meditate on your precepts
    and fix my eyes on your ways.
16 I will delight in your statutes;
    I will not forget your word.
