Congress Considering Next Round of Aid

December 26 deadline for 12 Million jobless Americans draws closer.

12 million Americans are set to lose their emergency jobless benefits on December 26, if no further action is taken by Congress. The CARES act, and subsequent extension of jobless benefits sought to protect the economy from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Congress has been locked in a months-long impasse over the next round of aid.

As cases have increased around the nation, and governors have placed new restrictions on schools and businesses, it is uncertain what agreements will be made between Congress and the White House. President Trump indicated his willingness to work with Congress and to sign aid legislation into law. Congress remains divided on what projects to fund. If Congress is unable to reach an agreement until after January 2021, Joe Biden has said, if he is president at that time, he too would be willing to sign.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • That God would give Congress wisdom on the next round of aid to pass.
  • For the Lord to give President Trump wisdom on how to help the American people recover from the pandemic.
  • That Americans would find all their needs met by the Lord.
