Daniel Desmond Domenico was born in 1972 in Boulder, Colorado. He earned his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University and his Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia Law School. He clerked at the U.S. Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Domenico served nine years as the Solicitor General of Colorado. At the time of his appointment, he was the youngest state solicitor general in the country, and his nine years of service made him the longest-serving solicitor general in Colorado history. He was also an adjunct professor of natural resources and advanced constitution law and the South College of Law. He entered into private practice.
He was nominated to a seat on the United States District Court for the District of Colorado by President Donald Trump, but his nomination was not heard before the end of the year. He was once again nominated for the federal judgeship. He was confirmed by the Senate in a 55-42 party-line vote and received his judicial commission in May 2019.

U.S. District Court Judge Daniel Domenico ruled in favor of two Colorado churches fighting COVID-19 restrictions, granting both churches the right to congregate in greater numbers and without masks.
The Denver Bible Church and Community Baptist Church in Brighton, Colorado, had filed lawsuits against the state for trying to limit religious gatherings while other more secular gatherings were allowed. Church leaders have said they are thankful for the victory and for the opportunity to worship unrestricted.
State officials say they appealed the decision and will take it to a higher court. Once the appeals case is fully resolved, if resolved in favor of the churches, other churches may be able to follow the precedent set in the case.
