Federal Judge Denies Florida Voter Registration Extension

Judge shares voter frustration but makes “incredibly close call”.

U.S. District Court Judge Mark E. Walker sympathized with the situation of voters in the state of Florida. There is no way to know how many potential voters will be prohibited from voting in November’s election due to a computer meltdown on the final day of voter registration. The Florida secretary of state then failed to notify the public when she extension voter registration.

Florida voter advocacy groups had requested another extension to the state’s voter registration deadline, but Judge Walker denied their request on late last week, “the state’s interest in preventing chaos in its already precarious —and perennially chaotic — election outweighs the substantial burden imposed on the right to vote.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For district judges as they work to uphold the Constitution daily.
  • That state governments would be given wisdom in their handling of this year’s election.
  • For those hired by the federal government to be on the ground during this election.
