Changing into Joy

Psalm 130:11-12 – You have turned my mourning into joyful dancing. You have taken away my clothes of mourning and clothed me with joy, that I might sing praises to you and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give you thanks forever.

Have you ever been to a wedding when the dancing gets started? It is a time of pure joy and celebration after all of the pomp and circumstance of the wedding ceremony. Everyone is laughing and having fun together, enjoying a special evening. Can you remember the last time you felt that kind of joy while spending time with God? Have you ever felt the need to start dancing in the middle of a church service or during your morning devotional time?

With all that is going on in the world right now, it may be difficult for you to find a reason to dance. After all, what is there to celebrate?? Be encouraged by the author of Psalm 130 today – there is reason to dance! You have an amazing Heavenly Father who loves you and wants nothing but the best for you! He has not abandoned the world, and one day, He will change all mourning to dancing forever. There is great hope to be found in this knowledge. Celebrate what is to come! Also, be encouraged – there are things everywhere to give thanks to God for! You are alive and breathing, you have clothes on your back, you have God in your life, you are surrounded by God’s beautiful creation. Make a list of things you can thank God for and post it somewhere you will see it. Say a little prayer of thanks to Him every time you pass by it. Watch how He will use that to change your sorrow to joy.

Pray With Us

Heavenly Father, today I thank You for all of the small blessings You give to me each day. I know that sometimes I can take those things for granted, especially when it feels like there are big things working against me. I ask that You would change my mourning to joy today. Help me keep focused on all the good You are already doing in the world, while looking forward to the wonderful future You have for all of Your children. God, You are worthy of all of my praise every single day.

Amen.
