No Excuse

Your obedience demonstrates your love.

Revelation 2:4 – You have abandoned the love you had at first.

Are you in danger? Is your love for God uppermost in your heart, exceeding the bond of any other relationship? Does your soul no longer yearn for times of rich fellowship with God in His Word or in prayer? In your moments of leisure do your thoughts honor Him? Do you make excuses for doing things that displease Him?  Are you not cheerfully and willingly giving to God’s work or to the needs of others? Are you bending to conformity with the world’s values? There are others, but these are a few signals that you might have “abandoned the love you had at first.”

Today’s political pundits and news media tell you to think this way or that…to accept “new realities” and to discard “old-fashioned virtues” as meaningless.  When you are away from your first love, it is very easy to follow the world’s path. James 1:14-16 says, “But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desires. Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death. Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers.” There is no excuse for disobedience to God’s law.  John 15:10 says, “If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love.” So there He is…your First Love, waiting for you to return!

Pray With Us

Heavenly Father, I repent of the distractions I have allowed into my life. In accordance with Psalm 51:12, I ask, “Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.” Thank You for Jesus. I do love You, Lord,

Amen.
