Justice Department Looking to Update Social Media Protections

Calls for reforms of Section 230 of the Communication Decency Act.

This week, the president’s administration announced that it would be putting together legal briefs to assure that social media platforms provide equal protection to freedom of speech in the United States regardless of political affiliation. Claims of censorship of conservative posts have been on the rise in recent months.

“For too long Section 230 has provided a shield for online platforms to operate with impunity,” stated Attorney General Barr. “Ensuring that the Internet is a safe, but also vibrant, open and competitive environment is vitally important to America. We, therefore, urge Congress to make these necessary reforms to Section 230 and begin to hold online platforms accountable both when they unlawfully censor speech and when they knowingly facilitate criminal activity online.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For President Trump’s administration as they try to safeguard free speech.
  • That God would guide the Justice Department as they seek to prevent the infringement of constitutional rights.
  • That God would give President Trump discernment as he leads the nation.
